Zimbabwe gambling halls

The prospect of living in Zimbabwe is somewhat of a gamble at the current time, so you could imagine that there would be little appetite for supporting Zimbabwe’s gambling halls. Actually, it seems to be working the other way around, with the desperate economic circumstances leading to a larger ambition to gamble, to attempt to locate a quick win, a way from the situation.

For nearly all of the citizens subsisting on the meager local wages, there are 2 common types of gambling, the state lottery and Zimbet. Just as with most everywhere else on the globe, there is a state lotto where the chances of succeeding are remarkably low, but then the jackpots are also surprisingly high. It’s been said by financial experts who understand the situation that many do not buy a ticket with an actual belief of hitting. Zimbet is based on one of the national or the UK football divisions and involves determining the results of future games.

Zimbabwe’s casinos, on the other foot, pamper the very rich of the country and vacationers. Up till not long ago, there was a very substantial sightseeing industry, based on nature trips and visits to Victoria Falls. The market woes and connected crime have cut into this trade.

Amongst Zimbabwe’s gambling halls, there are two in the capital, Harare, the Carribea Bay Resort and Casino, which has five gaming tables and slots, and the Plumtree gambling den, which has only slot machines. The Zambesi Valley Hotel and Entertainment Center in Kariba also has only slots. Mutare has the Monclair Hotel and Casino and the Leopard Rock Hotel and Casino, both of which offer gaming tables, one armed bandits and electronic poker machines, and Victoria Falls houses the Elephant Hills Hotel and Casino and the Makasa Sun Hotel and Casino, both of which offer slot machines and tables.

In addition to Zimbabwe’s gambling dens and the aforestated mentioned lottery and Zimbet (which is quite like a parimutuel betting system), there are also 2 horse racing complexes in the state: the Matabeleland Turf Club in Bulawayo (the second municipality) and the Borrowdale Park in Harare.

Given that the market has diminished by beyond 40% in recent years and with the associated poverty and bloodshed that has arisen, it isn’t well-known how healthy the tourist business which funds Zimbabwe’s gambling halls will do in the in the years to come. How many of the casinos will survive until things improve is basically not known.
