There is an interesting history to the Cambodia gambling halls that reside just over the border from neighboring Thailand, where gambling hall wagering is not allowed. Eight gambling halls are based in a relatively small location in the metropolis of Poipet in Cambodia. This group of Cambodia gambling halls is in a perfect destination, a 3 to 4 hour travel from Bangkok and Macao, the two biggest wagering locations in Asia. The Naga river boat is open all hours with 42 tables of mini-punto banco, four tables of blackjack, ten of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and 1 each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.
The initial casino in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in the late nineties and the Golden Crown soon followed. A total of 150 slot machine games and 5 tables at the Golden Crown and 104 one armed bandits and sixty eight table games at the Holiday Palace. The newer Holiday Palace Casino and Resort features 300 one armed bandits and 70 gaming tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six slot machine games and 96 table games, including eighty seven baccarat (the most popular game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. In addition, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slot machines and sixty six of the normal tables, as well as one table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the eight gambling dens in Poipet, again a part of a motel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slots and ninety seven table games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of a comprehensive vacation and hotel building that highlights a number of comforts aside from the gambling hall, which has ten thousand sq.ft. of 130 slot machines and 88 gaming tables.
